Hello there, everyone!
My name is
Sydney St. Sylvain, and once upon a time, back when I had just turned 21 years
of age, I used to be a superhero of sorts myself.
I doubt many of you
youngsters today would remember me as the fabulous Fashion Fairy, who used the
powers of her Glamour Glitter on behalf of the forces of good, but believe it or
not, in my day, I was fairly popular.
I was one of the founders of the
Valiant Vanguard, which was the number one superhero team at the time, and I
even had my own cartoon show and line of dress-up dollies, called "The Fashion
Fairy & Her Heroic Friends".
Nowadays, of course, I'm a respectable and
responsible businesswoman - I'm the head of Fashion Fairy Fabrications, which
not only designs affordable and attractive outfits for everyday folks, but also
offers the "Hero-Wear For Him" and "Hero-Wear For Her" lines of crime-fighting
costumes for you superhero types - and although I'd argue that I've still
maintained my aspiring runway model's figure, I'm definitely not the naive
little gil that I used to be.
I can't believe I'm 35 years old
already.
*Sigh*
Anyhow, Meg - oh, that's right, you all would probably
know her as Action Figure, the mother of CrazySugarFreakBoy! - she told me about
all of you a while back, and ever since then, she's been nudging me to start
socializing with you people, even though I keep telling her that very few of you
are probably all that interested in associating with some silly former superhero
like me.
Yes, in case you were wondering, that was my place that you all
stayed at in Japan.
I apologize sincerely for not being more sociable, but,
believe it or not, I can be quite shy at times.
Don't let the flirty front
fool you; even us so-called "social butterflies" can feel awkward or out of
place in certain situations, and considering that Meg and Dancer were the only
ones among you that I'd even met before, I was definitely feeling like a plaid
pattern in a room full of polka dots.
Clash, clash, clash.
Still, ever
since I designed the new costumes for the Goofball Gauntlet - you know, the team
of reformed supervillains turned would-be superheroes in Seattle? - Meg has
continued to encourage me to think less about business, and more about partying
and socializing and, well, having some fun, like I used to, a long, long time
ago.
She also gave me a brightly colored totebag, stuffed to the brim with
gifts, that she called her "Single Girls' Survival Kit".
I can't even think
about the contents of that bag without blushing crimson.
Then again, it's
been more than a little while, since the last time that I had a decent love
affair in my life, so I can hardly fault her intentions.
In any event, that's
more than enough information about me, at least for now, so why don't you all
tell me about yourselves?
I've noticed a lot of young men posting here, and
while there's certainly nothing wrong with that, I hope that I'm not the only
gal here?
Are there any fellow superheroines out there, besides Meg?
Who
knows, maybe if there are enough of us gals around, we could get together for a
fun slumber party.
Hey, I'm allowed to be a teenager every once in a while,
right?
Some other things I'm curious about, if you don't mind me asking all
sorts of nosy questions:
1. Why does Fin Fang Foom fear women so much? I
certainly can't speak for my entire gender, but I can't imagine that most of us
have any sort of problem with him. He's even kind of cute, in an imposing,
draconian sort of way. So why does he have such a problem with us? I'm
curious.
2. I finally got to meet Meg's son, Dream - you all probably know
him better as CrazySugarFreakBoy!, I guess - and, well, I was just wondering ...
is he all there? I mean, don't get me wrong. He's very sweet, and even took the
time to show me his entire collection of Valiant Vanguard back issues, but I
can't help thinking that there's something a bit ... odd about him, you know? I
suppose what I'm trying to ask is, should I be at all concerned, or is this sort
of behavior just kind of normal for him? It's hard to tell, especially when I
notice things like the fact that he has an entire refrigerator full of ZIMA, for
reasons I can't even begin to fathom.
3. Have any of you ever considered
changing your costumes? Not that there's anything wrong with Visionary's, ah,
distinctive yellow trenchcoat motif, but perhaps an outfit with a bit more
panache would command more respect from your adversaries. If any of you are
interested, just let me know.
I think that about covers everything, but if
any of you have any questions that you'd like to ask me, don't hesitate to post
them in a reply to this thread!
Anyways, I've taken up enough of your time
for now, so this little Fashion Fairy really should get going.
But I hope to
hear from you soon!
